International Rugby Scholar Program

International Rugby Scholar Program
ICEF Rugby began an International Rugby Scholar Program began in 2006. The program was initiated by a visiting philanthropist at View Park Middle School that suggested students would benefit from traveling abroad with an emphasis on school and rugby.
  • In 2006, two eighth grade students from View Park, travelled to Hong Kong to study and play rugby for a week.
  • In the summer of 2006, three girls and one boy traveled to New Zealand for two weeks.
  • In 2007, two Middle School girls returned to Hong Kong for a week.
  • In 2008, the View Park Girls High School Team traveled to Hong Kong for a week, attending two different schools, and played all the top High School girls teams over the week.
  • In 2009, a High School Boys team representing all the ICEF schools attended Wellington College in England for a week, playing the local rugby team as well as going to school.
  • In 2010, the ICEF High School Girls team returned to Hong Kong to play in the Hong Kong Sevens.
  • Also in 2010, the ICEF High School Boys and Girls Teams travelled to Washington D.C. to play against Hyde Leadership Academy and had a private tour of the White House.
  • In 2011 twenty ICEF students, 10 boys and 10 girls, travelled to Cape Town, South Africa and stayed with host families in the Philippi Township.
  • In 2011 the Hyde Leadership Academy stayed with ICEF students and played the return matches.
  • In 2012 40 ICEF students will tour New Zealand.
ICEF Rugby Program Success
Students have participated in scholarship trips to:
-Hong Kong and the White House- Watch the documentary!!

-Hong Kong (2006, 2007, 2008, 2010)
-Washington D.C. (2010)
